The book aims at providing support to children whose parents are suffering from alcoholism. The narration is structured as a letter from a grandmother to her young grandchild, and revolves around feelings and situations that the reader might have experienced in relation to their parent’s disease.

Enabling young readers to relate to the story and feel seen was a crucial goal of the project. For this reason, the illustrations were approached as realistic, down-to-earth depictions of a family affected by alcoholism. The visuals convey the feelings of loneliness, fear, confusion, but also of warmth and joy that intertwine in the daily life of a child witnessing the effects of alcoholism.
