The animation, made from the illustrations of Nele Palmtag, supports the storytelling of the audiobook Mein Papa, die Unglücksspiele und ich. The video developed from a collaboration with the German regions of Bayern and Baden-Württenberg.

To respect the original illustrations, the approach to the animations consisted in creating minimal movements that don’t change the nature of the drawings. For this reason, the animation style of each scene depends on the characteristics of the source illustration. While some animations mirror the real-life speed of the scene they depict, others slow the action down, expanding a crucial moment in time. The motion applied to the drawings carefully reflects their original mood and intent.

The book explores the struggles of gambling addiction from the point of view of the daughter of addict. Many animated illustrations therefore focus on expressing the feelings of the protagonist rather than an actual event.
