The animation, made from the illustrations of Nele Palmtag, supports the storytelling of the audiobook Mein Papa, die Unglücksspiele und ich, which was made in collaborations of the regions of Bayern and Baden-Württenberg.

To respect the original illustrations, the approach to the animations consisted in creating minimal movements that don’t change the shape of the drawings and that reflected its mood and intent. For this reason, some animations mirror the real-life speed of the movements they depict, while others slow the action down, expanding a crucial moment in time.

The book explores the struggles of gambling addiction from the point of view of the daughter of addict. Many animated illustrations therefore focus on expressing the feelings of the protagonist.
